March for Life & Students for Life Summit 2023
Stand for Life
After being so inspired by the 2022 March for Life, I knew I had to return. It was incredible to celebrate with so many pro-life activists after the overturning of Roe v. Wade, but I was also leaving a great darkness in my home state of Michigan, which just passed a radical change to our constitution, solidifying that decisions regarding “all matters related to pregnancy” including abortion, as a fundamental right. I was far more optimistic than a lot of people back home for our future, so I was looking for a bit of hope to bring back with me.
I met a lot of remarkable advocates for life, but two women, in particular, were at the very first march for life. They believed they’d march for a few years and Roe v. Wade would be overturned. They were wrong, but they didn’t give up. They continued to fight, and they lived to see the day they worked so hard to achieve.
There were young people from all across the country who came to celebrate and continue marching for life. Many of them were firmly rooted in a culture of life centered around their belief system. The following day, I was able to attend the Students for Life Summit, and those kids were hungry to learn and become better pro-life apologists. These activists kept their reasoning centered around science, rights, and philosophy.
There were also organizations present that believe in helping women in need, whether it’s throughout and after their pregnancy, or even after their abortion. These are the sort of resources the public needs to know about, or else they’ll continue believing a post-Roe world is bleak and cruel for women.
I got to meet some people I follow online from the Equal Rights Insitute, Secular Pro-Life, and Live Action. I was even recognized by people who follow my Tiktok content. I also got the chance to interview Kristan Hawkins, who is a force of nature. She fearlessly defends the unborn.
So, did I come back home with hope? I came back with a greater focus and perspective. Even the young pro-life generation was pleasantly surprised to see Roe fall. We knew it should have fallen because it was a terrible ruling, but our movement has seen many setbacks. But the fall of Roe was only the beginning. Though we will see setbacks in certain states, it doesn’t mean we throw our hands up. We continue to press on and fight. It’s worth bearing the torch and passing on, if necessary.
But not yet. I believe we were called for such a time as this.

Many Democrat operatives expect marginalized communities to experience schadenfreude when a powerful man like Trump gets what they think is coming to him. But the reality is that most people want real justice over social or performative justice.
