Feminism is No Friend to Kamala Harris and Professional Women
/Greater women than Senator Kamala Harris have blazed trails and fought to be taken seriously in the workplace. That’s why it’s ridiculous for the mainstream media to use cries of sexism to explain her poor debate performance. I’m aware her sycophants were ready to go, “Yas, queen,” but anyone paying attention would have remembered Harris barely got any support in the primaries. She focused on frivolous issues like banning the president from Twitter, was inconsistent with policy, and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard cleaned her clock by exposing her shady record as a prosecutor. On the flip side, Vice President Mike Pence is a gifted debater who easily beat Hillary’s running mate, Senator Tim Kaine. The media even called it Pence’s “2020 pitch,” assuming Donald Trump wasn’t going to win the presidency in 2016.
Why anyone wouldn’t anticipate a Mike Pence victory is beyond me.
Kamala came off as knowledgeable in a few areas and raised a few points here and there, but she couldn’t handle Pence. Eventually, her attacks became less substantive. Harris threw in every hoax and the kitchen sink. President Trump calling neo-Nazis has been debunked, the “losers and suckers,” story from The Atlantic has been proven false, and the bounty story has been disputed.
Harris even muttered that Pence was lying when he mentioned Biden’s record on fracking, even though there are multiple videos, including one where Biden made a promise to a young girl to end fossil fuels.
At the end of the night, the media made it clear Pence won by immediately blaming sexism and mansplaining.
I don’t expect the media will condemn Democrats for mansplaining during the Amy Coney Barrett confirmation hearings.
Democrats love to use identity politics and uplift women, but they also demean them by using cries of sexism as a crutch. That may play well in the media, but professional women in the real world have to compete on their merits. Modern feminism is conditioning young women to whine their way into achievements rather than shattering glass ceilings through sheer willpower.
Mike Pence has shown Kamala Harris far more respect than her current defenders. He came to the debate stage prepared and ready to win, because that’s what you do when you compete against an adversary. Using sexism and racism to explain her loss is demeaning to professional women.
“White knights” like actor Mark Ruffalo don’t realize how infantilizing they are. Kamala Harris is a big girl, a professional woman. She was a prosecutor and the Attorney General of California. She can take her loss with grace. He’s contributing to the soft bigotry of low expectations, which is a lowkey form of white supremacy.
If Kamala can’t handle a respectful debate, how can you make the case she’s ready to rumble with world leaders? Do you think, “I’m speaking” is going to convince Vladimir Putin she’s a serious person? Do we truly believe Harris is ready to join the historical ranks of women like Margaret Thatcher?
If Biden was debating against Kristi Noem, Nikki Haley, or Condoleezza Rice would the media lecture Biden on the evils of “mansplaining?” No. They have clear selective outrage, and none of these women would utter such a ridiculous phrase unless they were using it mockingly.
Since election day, I have read and heard hot takes from Democrat operatives trying to explain Vice President Harris’s loss to former (and officially future) President Donald J. Trump. So far, I’m convinced Republicans are destined to rack up more wins because Democrats do not get it.
